This morning, I decided to check out Zara’s website and let me just say WOW! I basically want everything. Overall, their clothes, shoes, and accessories come at decent prices. I never really shopped at Zara, but I think things are about to change. My new go-to-store you ask? Why it’s Zara of course! I’ve seen the name countless times on celebs, people, blogs, etc., but I never decided to go on the website, which is very strange for me. These items are eye catching and scream fabulous! The tulip dress is perfection! Doesn’t it remind you of the dress Carrie wore in that episode of Sex and the City when the Russian buys her a dress like this but in a beautiful pink color by Oscar de la Renta? I died when she wore that. Can you say my birthday dress? I need it, along with everything else. This summer is going to be difficult to save with all the amazing looks and styles for this season. Can’t wait to get my shop on with Zara!
Yes, that’s right folks I BAKED! I made Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Once upon a blog post I said I wanted to expand my baking skills. Well, I did it! At least I started to on my baking journey. I must admit this recipe was on the back of a Quaker Oats box, but hey, they were a hit! Everyone in my family commented about them more so than our meal. The reason for that though is probably because we are a sweet tooth family. I believe there are only about 6 of these bad boys left. Whether it’s a Magnolia Cupcake recipe or something from a box like Quaker Oats, I will conquer it. The baking world is my oyster (for the most part). I’ve learned that sometimes the greatest recipes come from the most unexpected places. I definitely patted myself on the back for this one. This is just the beginning my friends. Below are some pictures I took from the finished product. Aren’t these cups stellar?! The last picture is actually a small glass for wine, but I thought it would be neat to use it for my milk. I especially love the Alice in Wonderland one. They look so vintage I am obsessed. Hope you enjoy!:
So I know some people saw this yesterday on twitter/facebook, but I love the high bun. Ever since Carrie Bradshaw started rocking it on the show, I tried to mimic this chic look. And yes, I started watching it around 12-13 years old (don’t judge). From the streets to the runway, everyone wants that bun. Fast forward a few years later, and thebeautydepartment.com appears. Here, there is a step-by-step tutorial on how to perfect Lauren Conrad’s stellar high bun. Other than my girl CB, Lauren Conrad perfects this look. Here’s the link dolls if you haven’t already seen it:
Anna Wintour is the epitome of fashion. Many people even see her as a fashion God. In fact, one of my favorite films is indeed The September Issue. I would kill to intern, or even work there some day. I know, I know. Many girls and boys are saying the same thing out there, but I can’t help but wonder- Will I be the chosen one to work for her someday? It may seem a little dramatic when I say this, but I’m not stretching that far from the truth. As said in The Devil Wears Prada (a film that is supposed to mimic a girl’s life working at a prestigious magazine like Vogue; more specifically, assisting the editor similar to Wintour’s persona), millions of girls would kill to be in Andy Sachs’ shoes. This is really the truth. Even though people have claimed she is cold, and some have even said she has no soul, she knows how to become successful in the fashion world and people admire her for that. That is something that is very difficult to obtain. There is something about her love for tweed and fur, wide brimmed sunglasses, and her never-changing bob that strikes me. She is simply an icon. I could go on for pages about my love for Miss Anna, but that might be too extreme ;) Instead, I will just continue to read Vogue. Anna Wintour, you are a legend.
Obsessed with this look! Polka dots and the color red have been a famous combination for decades. It is something that will never go out of style. I like the contrast of the elegant outfit and the rustic feel of the town. So chic and so Audrey Hepburn-esque.
TREND: Polka dots, recently appearing on knitted hot pants and tank tops in Miu Miu’s 2010 resort collection, then later on the fall runways: on suits at Marc Jacobs, on sheath dresses at David Koma, and adorning sheer chiffon at Stella McCartney.
I love Summer. I mostly love it because the livin’ is easy. Yea, cheesy right? Well, besides being home with my family and friends, bronzing my skin, and going in the pool/ to the beach almost every day, there is the best part- the fashion. Though I have already posted some of my favorite summer looks, these items are essentials to me. Loose, flowy maxi skirts and dresses (particularly in striped and bright colors); neutral and comfortable espadrille wedges that go with just about anything; beaded tribal style necklaces; floppy hats with little embellishments like this bow; the perfect white skinny jeans that are cropped for those hot but breezy nights; and shorts with fun designs on them like the ever so popular florals. These items will be the show stoppers of this summer for me and have a front seat in my closet. Hope you all have you summer essentials lined up because it’s only around the corner!
I am obsessed with these colorful jeans! There is no better way to show a pop of color by wearing it on your legs. I have my eye on these babies this summer. Nothing says sass like a pair of red jeans, stellar platform heels, and a flowy white shirt tucked in (or semi tucked in for a little edge) like this potential outfit. These jeans just scream fun. I like to explore all types of looks and this is no exception. Jeans can now make a statement too, and well kids, that’s just fabulous.
One accessory that I honestly lack in my wardrobe is clutches. Sure, I have worn them to school dances and what not, but I never go out with one just because. I always look at the clutches that stars pair with their outfits and they always seem to make a statement. I can’t help but want to rock one of them! Besides attempting to become a baking/cooking guru this summer, I want to incorporate clutches into my outfits. It makes no sense to me why I don’t own many because, let’s be honest, I love me some gaudy jewelry and accessories. I am never one to keep it simple. I need loud pieces to go with my energetic personality ;) After looking around on the web, these clutches truly stuck out to me. I am a sequin girl at heart (like the peacock and gold clutches), but I also love the simplicity of the yellow clutch above. The ruffles and pastel colors are always great for the inner princess as well. Each one represents a different outfit, and even a different personality. Thats what’s so great about clutches- you can wear that little black dress, but kick it up a a notch by wearing a statement clutch. To me, that is just utterly fabulous. Clutches, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Here’s to looking at you kid.
Like many trends, crochet is something that seems to come and go, but never permanently leave in the fashion world. I myself am a big fan of crochet. It is so versatile and can be worn in many different seasons. I like that I could wear a crochet top or dress in the summer with some stellar gladiator sandals and call it a day. In the fall I can dress up a skirt or dress with some boots and a floppy hat. The possibilities are truly endless. I am a huge advocate of the crochet because it is very hippie chic to me. Growing up listening to Carole King, The Beatles, Cat Stevens, and other bands from this era make me embrace clothes like these even more. As weird as it may sound, whenever I am in clothes that have some nostalgia, I just want to have a dance party with my sisters or mom while listening to music from that time. If you’re lucky, your mom may have some vintage clothes stored away for you. Crochet is not just something I love because it is clothes, but it allows me to share special moments with my mother. Love you mom<3
Kaftans, or caftans, are a summer essential for me. Anything that allows me to go from a day time outfit to a night time outfit is a given. All it requires is a switch of a few accessories and changing your make up and hair style. The beauty of kaftans is how light and airy they are. They also come in a variety of styles to fit one’s personality, and most certainly the occasion. Considering the fact that in most parts of the country it is scorching hot in the summer time, us ladies don’t want to feel unglamorous by wearing sticky jeans and a cotton based polo. Perhaps these examples are pushing it for our wallets, but stores like Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters do this trend some justice. Strut yourself in one of these before the season to wear one struts away from you. Stay fabulous readers!
Hey bloggers and readers! I am currently revamping flocks of a feather to make it a more consistent, fashion filled, eccentric blog. Simply put, it needs to be glamorized and “mollified!” I look forward to writing about fashion, food, decor, and all things that I admire. Keep your eye out for posts in the near future (possibly tonight)!
